“Hero in Pharmaceutical Medicine” Award

Dominique Dubois recognized as “Hero in Pharmaceutical Medicine”

Taking advantage of the IFAPP European meeting, held in Athens on 17 and 18 October 2019, which saw the active participation of delegates from 11 European Member Associations, the Council of Past Presidents suggested to the IFAPP Board to give to Dr. Dominique Dubois (Belgium) the title of “Hero in Pharmaceutical Medicine”. The award was offered to Dominique on October 17 by the IFAPP President, Dr. Kyoko Imamura, together with Dr. Marco Romano, IFAPP President Elect, and Prof. Domenico Criscuolo, Chair of the Council of IFAPP Past Presidents.

In underlining the significant contribution paid by Dominique for the recognition of Pharmaceutical Medicine, Domenico summarized his long and successful career as Pharmaceutical Physician and added that ”Dominique has been instrumental in promoting Pharmaceutical Medicine at both the national level as at the European and global level. Dominique has been advocating for many years to support the recognition of Pharmaceutical Medicine as a specialty for physicians in Belgium; leading to a recent milestone, a positive advice on this matter from the High Council of physicians earlier this year. Dominique has been a strong leader. His enthusiasm, eagerness and drive have been inspirational for many professionals over the past years. He has been demonstrating never-ending dedication and passion. He has been a colleague well respected by everyone. Both as a leader and as a peer, he has been an example for many colleagues over the course of his long career, which over spans decades engaging in promoting Pharmaceutical Medicine”.

As “Hero in Pharmaceutical Medicine” Dominique follows in the footsteps of Prof. Joao Massud, Brazil, and Dr. Luciano Fuccella, Italy, who were the first two colleagues recognized by IFAPP through the award of “Hero in Pharmaceutical Medicine” in 2018. A third award was offered to Prof. Gerfried Nell, Austria, in early 2019.
